🌿 Where It All Begins: Whispers of the Soul

My Journey Into Writing, Healing, and Creating Space for Stillness

Hi, I'm so glad you're here.

My name is Luzdivina Torres, and Whispers of the Soul is a space I’ve created from the quietest parts of me—the tender places, the healing places, the ones that find peace in beauty, softness, and truth.

This isn’t just a blog. It’s a journal. A garden. A sanctuary.

I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember. In notebooks, in the margins of books, even on napkins. And when I had nothing else nearby? I’d write on my hands so that I wouldn’t forget.

I didn’t call myself a poet back then—I just knew I had something to say. Words that needed to live outside of me. Words that made the world make sense.

đŸŒ± My Journey as a Writer

Over time, I began to find my voice. Inspired by greats like Maya Angelou, Langston Hughes, Emily Dickinson, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and Mary Oliver, I realized that words could do more than describe—they could move, heal, and connect.

My journey as a writer is woven with study and soul. I’ve completed coursework in:

  • English Composition I & II

  • Politics & Culture

  • Sociology & Urban Sociology

  • Psychology I & II

  • Interdisciplinary and Liberal Studies

  • And four writing-intensive courses that shaped and refined my craft

I also spent three years in Bible study—an experience that grounded me and deepened my understanding of grace, truth, and purpose. Scripture gave me language for things I once couldn’t name. The Bible continues to inspire my writing, giving me wisdom and perspective on human nature, resilience, and the beauty of growth.

🍃 What Inspires Me

I’m endlessly inspired by nature, emotion, and the in-between places. The way light moves across a wall. The comfort of a warm drink. A single line in a book that stops me cold.

But my most profound inspiration comes from Scripture. The words of the Bible have shaped my perspective, teaching me about resilience, hope, and the transformative power of patience. The way the scripture speaks to our shared humanity—our struggles, our growth, our connection—continues to shape my work.

Lately, I’ve been leaning into stillness, planting, and green—the color that feels like renewal, patience, and everything we’re learning to give ourselves.

“A plant does not grow because it is told to, but because it is nurtured.”
— Anonymous

“Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.”
— Pedro Calderón de la Barca

This blog is my place to share the small, quiet things that bloom in my world—sometimes poems, sometimes thoughts, and sometimes the in-between.

💬 Why I Started This Blog

This blog is my way of sharing more than finished poems or polished pieces. It’s where I’ll share the behind-the-scenes of my writing life, the thoughts that don’t quite fit into a poem, and the things I’m learning along the way.

Think of it as a love letter to creativity, growth, and everyday magic.

If you’re someone who feels deeply

If you’re learning how to grow slowly

If you’ve ever been told you were too soft or not enough—this space is for you.

Thank you for being here.

Here’s to what we’ll grow together. 🌿

With warmth and words,
